About Us

At Tyneside Outdoors, we offer a professional Youth and Community Work service to residents in disadvantaged areas of Tyneside. We do this by working with young people in our youth groups and encouraging them to take part in a range of out-of-door activities to assist their personal development and most importantly- to have fun!

The organisation was created to fulfil a recognised need within inner city communities, to engage people in informal education through outdoor activities, and was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the Charity Commission in March 2014.

It's simple to describe what TO do.  We do 'stuff' outdoors!

Our Mission

  • Promote physical and mental health and well-being and to advance education and personal and social development for the benefit of the public through youth and community work, training and the use of the outdoors

  • Provide an effective model of engaging residents in disadvantaged areas in youth and community work, based around healthy outdoors activities

Our Vision

At Tyneside Outdoors we like to aim big- our aim is to be the main informal outdoors education organisation in the North East, providing professional Youth and Community Work in the Great Outdoors!

"Since joining TO's Temple Raiders group my son has found a great interest in bikes and bike related activities.  It has given him opportunities that I could not have given him, such as skills in bike maintenance, a chance to volunteer repairing bikes for a local school and the opportunity to take part in BMX racing, as well as a visit to the BMX track at the Olympic park in London."
